It is likely that you will experience a mild stinging sensation when the skin vaporises. This varies from person to person depending on skin sensitivity. Before the procedure, a topical anaesthetic will be applied to reduce any discomfort.

A skin tightening treatment works by using plasma (ionised gases) to cause the skin tissue to go from solid to ease which is known as sublimation. This causes an instant contraction and tightening of the skin fibres resulting in skin that is lifted and remodelled.

Ensure that you arrive to your appointment with a clean, make-up free face with no false eyelashes. You will also need to remove any contact lenses if treating the face. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure in the weeks leading up to your procedure as this could put you at risk of developing pigmentation. Avoid alcohol and any blood-thinning medication including aspirin at least 48 hours before.

A non-surgical method is a great alternative to surgery allowing for a more gentle correction of mild to moderate loose skin with minimal downtime. Sometimes more than 1 session is required.

Traditional surgery is more suitable for clients with extremely loose skin, eye bags or puffy eyelids.

Which treatment is better would depend on the results you expect to achieve.

You will begin to see results immediately, however sometimes the swelling can disguise the results. You will have a period of recovery and then your final results will gradually improve in the following weeks. The final results can be seen at 12 weeks as this is how long it takes for the production of new collagen and elastin.

Generally 1-2 sessions are required for the face, and 1-3 for the body, spaced at 12 week intervals. For more extreme loose skin or hooded eyelids, an additional session may be required.

Immediately after treatment you will notice black or brown combustion points known as the carbon crust. These will turn into a scab and take 4-10 days to fully disappear and you must take care not to scratch, pick or get the area wet to avoid risk of pigmentation to the area.

You may experience swelling which can last for 48-72 hours.

You cannot apply make-up or any products to the area until the scabs have come away.

Sun exposure must be avoided for at least 4 weeks after treatment, and SPF is always recommended.

During the procedure skin is removed from the treated areas, meaning that the results should last just as long as traditional surgery. Like all treatments, it cannot stop the genetic ageing process so maintenance treatments may be required after a few years.
